Normally when I made pizza at home I used the Natural Pantry pizza crusts. I like them, but they’re nothing special; they’re your basic pizza crust.
Then one day I discovered others and I don’t know if I’ll go back. The Honey even loves them!
Glutino sells gluten-free individual pizza crusts in a package of four and they can be found in the freezer section of your health food store or major chain. They are also milk and casein free. These crusts crisp up nicely and have good texture and flavour.
But then I found Kinnikinnick’s gluten-free pizza crusts and I’m in love. The box contains 4 individual-sized crusts and are also found in the freezer section of the health food stores or major chains. There’s something about them that makes them better than the others. When they bake up, the crust is perfect and it tastes like pizza. They are not only gluten-free, but also dairy, peanut, and soy free. And for me, they are also potato free. It doesn’t seem like a big thing, but when potatoes are no longer your friend, good luck finding a gf product without potato flour.
And while pizza crusts can only be so healthy, Kinnikinnick’s crusts boast 20% of your daily fibre (based on ½ a crust). Glutino gives you 10% using a whole crust, and there is zero cholesterol in theirs (K’s have 26mg).
I used to make my own, but it was a bit of a pain. Then I found Natural Pantry’s, which made life a little easier. Now I have two other brands to choose from that are a bit healthier. Yes, I could make a healthy version myself, but I’d rather spend my time doing other things and splurge on a convenience product for once (prices vary from $5.99-$10.99 depending on store and sales).
